Analyzing particle morphology, size, shape & structure

Microscopy analysis

Microscopy is an essential technique for analyzing particle morphology, size, and shape in pharmaceutical materials.

At Particle Analytical, we use the Malvern Panalytical Morphology G3 – an advanced optical system designed for automatic detailed particle characterization.

It provides critical insights into particle behavior and performance, supporting both formulation development and quality control.
The image analysis software is compliant to USP <1776> Image analysis of pharmaceutical systems, giving all descriptor of the powder sample studied.

How Particle Analytical can assist with Microscopy analysis

  • Particle Morphology Analysis
Assesses particle shape and surface characteristics, which influence flowability, compressibility, and processability in formulations.
  • Size and Shape Distribution
Measures particle size and shape distribution in detail, ensuring uniformity in drug formulations for consistent dosing and performance.
  • Identification of Foreign Particles
Detects and identifies contaminants or foreign particles, ensuring product purity and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Polymorph and Crystallinity
Optical images of various polymorphic forms can be captured. Crystallinity of samples can be assessed.
  • Particle Classification
Classifies particles based on morphological features, offering in-depth analysis of specific particle populations in complex formulations.
  • Formulation Optimization
Ensures particles meet the desired size and shape specifications, aiding in the development of effective drug formulations.
  • Quality Control Support
Maintains consistency in particle morphology and size across production batches, ensuring product performance and reliability.
