Air Jet Sieve

Measuring particle size in dry powders

Air Jet Sieve

Air Jet Sieve analysis is a conventional technique for determining particle size distribution in pharmaceutical powders, particularly for coarser materials.

It helps ensure that powders meet the required specifications for size, which is critical for flowability, compaction, and overall product performance.

At Particle Analytical, we perform Air Jet Sieve analysis using the Hosokawa Alpine e200 LS – covering a particle size range of 20 µm to 4 mm in compliance with Ph. Eur. 2.9.38

How Particle Analytical can assist with Air Jet Sieve analysis

  • Particle Size Distribution

Provides accurate measurement of particle size distribution, critical for optimizing formulation properties such as flowability and compaction behavior.

  • Formulation Development

Ensures that pharmaceutical powders meet desired particle size specifications, supporting the development of consistent and effective formulations.
Sieving analysis is ideal for determination of particle size for formulation intermediate products, such as granules and tableting masses.

  • Quality Control Support

Maintains batch-to-batch consistency in particle size distribution, ensuring product quality and compliance with regulatory standards.
The particle size distribution can be used as important quality attribute for at-release analysis of API and granules.

  • Process Monitoring

Helps monitor particle size during manufacturing processes, ensuring that materials meet the necessary specifications for optimal production efficiency as off-line quality parameter in manufacturing process.
